The Chinese drama "Diamond Lover," starring Rain and Chinese actress Tiffany Tang, started airing on July 22 and along with it was the unveiling of the main theme song. Two days into its release, the track went on to become a major chart-topper, cementing Rain's massive fame in the mainland. According to Yahoo!, Diamond Lover was Rain's first Chinese recording, in which he also had an active participation with writing and composing. Closely following the number one spot is "Fake," the closing track also sung by Rain for the C-drama.

After a long hiatus from singing, Rain proved that he still has what it takes to sweep listeners off their feet. Complementing Rain's impassioned vocal prowess in Dimaond Lover was the fiery rap rendered by Ravi of rookie K-Pop boy band VIXX. The young performer reportedly spoke highly of his senior, who has attained an internationally renowned status both as a singer and an actor.

"I've always had a great admiration for Rain as a world star. I felt honored to work with him and feature in his soundtrack," KPop Starz quoted Ravi.

Rain plays the character of Xiao Liang, the aloof CEO of the world's biggest diamond company. His world revolves around his business and money and he regards human relationships as a waste of time. The arrival of Tang's character Mi Dou in his life causes him to take a second look at life and know how it is to truly live.

Diamond Lover is Rain's first venture into Chinese drama. In just days of its airing, the 40-episode series has reportedly gained more than 2.7 million viewers on Tudou, a major streaming site in China. Reports claimed that Rain will be flying to and from China and South Korea to continue promoting the show. Joining Rain and Tang are Luo Jin, Di Li Re Ba, Zhang Wen, and Yao Yi Chen.
