It has also been reported that actress Aimee Chan has turned down a role in the drama.

Although his role hasn't been confirmed yet, it was said that Ruco Chan will be collaborating with Raymond Wong. The two stars have had several collaborations already, including the historical drama 'All That is Bitter is Sweet'.

Along with Ruco Chan, Raymond Wong is also going to be joined by Elliot Ngok, Joel Chan and actress Maggie Shiu. Their appearance in 'Chung Po Tsai' has already been confirmed as well.

The multi-million dollar production revolves around the story and action-packed adventures of an infamous, old world, Cantonese pirate named Cheung Po Tsai. The character of the pirate will be translated by Raymond Wong himself.

TVB has purportedly invested millions of dollars on the new project, hiring a new team of computer generated imagery artists who are said to be specializing on improving graphics for commercials and movies. Besides that, TVB was said to have purchased new filming software in order to ease inconveniences for the actors that would star in the drama.

The drama that is produced by Leung Choi Yuen will start filming in mid-September this year. They have also revealed that the cast and crew will spend at least a month filming at Cheung Po Tsai Cave located in the Island District of Hong Kong.

They are also planning to shoot scenes in China and in November, the production team will move to Wuxi and Hengidan World Studios to film more of the scenes that will be shown for the drama.

In 1999, TVB planned to produce the same drama in collaboration with China's CCTV, however, due to the very high production cost, the idea was scrapped.
