Gaza Strip residents fear that violence would erupt after the 72-hour cease-fire brokered by Egypt ended Friday morning with no extension reached by Israel and Hamas militants.

Israel accused Hamas of breaking the temporary truce after the militants allegedly fired two rockets into the Jewish state hours before the truce ended while negotiators were scrambling to extend the cease-fire. The truce officially ended 8 am local time.

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said some areas in southern Israel were hit by two rockets fired early Friday from Gaza strip, an enclave controlled by Hamas militants.

"Terrorists have violated the cease-fire," the IDF said on Twitter.

Hamas denied launching any rocket into Israel as part of the cease-fire. The cease-fire was peacefully held until the reported rocket launch.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the allegations were merely based on Israeli reports and said it was aimed to confuse the situation, CNN reported.

Hamas already ruled out the possibility of extending the cease-fire, saying it will not be contended with the current terms agreed earlier.

Abu Ubaida, Hamas armed wing's spokesman, said in a televised statement that it would not entertain any possible cease-fire if Israel would not address its requests. The requests include lifting restrictions in the Gaza border and releasing of Palestinian prisoners.

Hamas militants wanted to establish a seaport in Gaza. Israel turned it down and said would raise serious security concerns for Israel.

Other militant groups in Gaza fighting said it is ready to resume its offensives against the IDF.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces did not mention how it would respond with the reported rocket launches after it withdrew its troops in the border early Tuesday.

If Israel's "Operation Protective Edge" would resume, the number of victims is expected to rise. Since July 8, 1,888 Palestinians were killed among them were 446 children, Palestinian health officials said.

Israel recorded 67 deaths inclduing three Israeli soldiers.
