Twitter About to Venure into e-Payments and e-Shopping

Twitter is close to adding a payment function to its app.
Twitter users have started seeing the new "Payments and Shipping" option in the settings of Twitter's Android app.
Twitter users said the option is not yet functional and does not do anything related to it.
Some believe Twitter could be trying out the new feature. The social microblogging site frequently tests news features via a small number of users before fully rolling it out to the public.

Whether it's a test or not, Twitter is definitely advancing its services by implementing and launching the site as a native shopping platform.
In June, there was a Buy Now button tweets among users that linked to the Fancy, a shopping website.
The recent rumored new feature, "Payments and Shipping," saw Twitter's button pop-up on mobile devices and not on the web. This seems to indicate Twitter's making use of CardSpring, which it recently acquired.
CardSpring is a start-up company that helps businesses create infrastructure for supporting mobile payments. It has a goal of "in-the-moment commerce experiences to our users."
Twitter hasn't yet disclosed further information about the new feature. There have been reports that Twitter is now embracing e-commerce, however.
Twitter CEO Dick Costolo expressed his interest in embracing e-commerce in 2012.
E-commerce will help Twitter persuade more advertisers and maintain the engagement of users. This move of Twitter will bring in additional revenue streams, as well.
User engagement is Twitter's metric in luring companies to invest in it.
