Months after he left One Direction, Zayn Malik is now calling it quits with "Little Mix" girlfriend Perrie Edwards.

According to People magazine, it comes as no surprise that the relationship between former One Direction member Zayn Malik and his fiancée Perrie Edwards was bound to end. According to a source, things between the couple have been on the rocks for a long time. The insider also added that the split happened two weeks ago and Zayn should consider himself lucky to be able to hold on to Edwards for as long as he did.

"She's so lovely and she put up with so much. Her close friends are totally relieved it's over so now she can move on," said the source.

Mirror UK  also reported that Perrie has not seen Malik for weeks. Zayn reportedly called Perrie a few weeks ago to say that their relationship is over. The 22-year-old "Litte Mix" singer was said to be devastated by the split.

"She's been putting on a brave face, as Little Mix have had promotion to do, but she's obviously devastated," the source added.

Although in pieces, Perrie is said to be getting lots of support from her bandmates. US magazine reported that the reason for their split is still unknown but it might have a lot to do with Zayn's infidelity rumors. Ironically, Zayn's decision to leave One Direction was to be able to spend time with his family and Edwards only to leave her four months after.

"He's sure showing the real him now. He can be such a great, caring guy, but right now, he's losing all the good people around him who have been with him a long time and supported him from the beginning," the source claimed.

Zayn and Perrie announced their engagement two years ago, causing a lot of brokenhearted One Direction fans. They didn't give any further details about their engagement and the date for their wedding has always been inconclusive.

Both Perrie and Zayn are in Los Angeles as of the moment for work. Edwards and her bandmates are promoting their single "Black Magic" while Zayn is working on his new record deal with RCA.
