In a surprising turnaround, audience ratings of the reality TV series "I am Cait" that features transgender woman Caitlyn Jenner and her journey to embracing her new self, plummeted by more than 50% its viewership numbers during its first week.
"I am Cait" premiered on July 26 recording some 2.7 million viewers, the following Sunday viewership dropped to only 1.3 million, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Its opening ratings may still be considered modest bearing in mind the audience-drawing power of the Kardashians and the unexpected media buzz over Jenner following his public transition to Caitlyn, the entertainment site added.
Jenner's eight-episode reality TV series follows his full transition into 'womanhood' and tackles topics about homosexuality and transgender issues.
The public was gripped after Olympian Bruce went public on the cover of Vanity Fair Magazine as Caitlyn. In just four hours, he received more than a million Twitter followers and he now has around 2.78 million social media followers, Daily Mail reported.
However, it seems like not all his social media fans are following his reality TV series as it seems to be suffering a ratings decline, the report added.
Over the past month, Jenner also made news following her highly-publicized ESPY Arthur Ashe Courage Award. But it seems it hasn't helped her show's ratings.
A preview of this Sunday's episode will touch on topics about Jenner's swimsuit insecurities and her family, Daily News learned.
"The ability to grow is directly related to the amount of insecurity you can take in your life," Jenner tells her transgender friends in a white one-piece bathing suit.
Meanwhile, fashion critics are loving Jenner's style. She's been spotted on stage, on major events, and onscreen in timeless, glamorous fashion pieces, US Weekly reported.
However, as someone new to being a woman, the 65-year-old transgender confessed that life as a lady was harder that she thought, "You start learning the pressure that women are under all the time about their appearance," the news site reported.
