Android smartphones are set to receive the latest Android 5.1.1 lollipop update, but the Taiwanese grown HTC series will skip the update to go directly to Android M mobile operating system, which will be released later this year.

According to the MasterHerald, the HTC One M9 and the HTC One M8 will respectively skip the Android 5.1.1 lollipop update for the Android M mobile operating system; however, HTC users are concerned about the Android ruling, wherein, devices not more than two years old can only receive the latest Android M mobile operating system, putting the HTC One M8 in question over its validity to receive the said update.

Mo Versi, HTC's senior vice president for product, however, confirmed that the HTC One M8 will receive the new Android M mobile operating system. The Android M system update brings essential features to HTC One M9, as well as the HTC One M8, such as the app drawer and the essentially useful rotating home screen.

The new Material Design from Google is also included in the Android M update and another security feature that standardizes the fingerprint scanner to lock and unlock the smartphone screen. Along with the security feature, the fingerprint scanner can also be used to purchase items online and essentially at the Google play store.

In a report by the IBTImes, the two main benefits HTC One M8 users will get from the upgrade includes fixes on its Bluetooth glitch by way of deleting previous connections and clearing its history. The other important feature is a fix on its battery consumption that has left consumers helpless over its fast draining battery life. The solution? Doze, a mobile app that will shut off all open applications on standby in order to save more battery life. The mobile device will only light up again ones it is picked up or scanned through.

Significantly, the Android M update will have more meaning to HTC One M8 users than following through the Android 5.1.1 lollipop update if they want to have these two important updates.
