Google touts "material design" to be the centerpiece of the Android L.

To show fans what the upgrade is really all about, Google released a video through its official Android Developers YouTube channel and explained the benefits that will excite all Google mobile users.

The video shows Google engineer Roman Nurik explaining that material design is a deployment across the board, which means the first experience will be received on Google services and devices.

According to Nurik, the new design language is a single underlying design system that organizes space and interactions.

He clarified the material design core principle will offer a unique experience between Nexus smartphones and tablets and the Chromebook, saying that each device will reflect a different view of a single underlying system.

The change comes with exciting details such as the subtle ripple effect which highlights a function with a blowing circle and a floating button that is a simple but stunning visual pleasure.

It focuses on customizable grids Google believes is optimal, especially for mobile devices. Material design is in the phased rollout stage and is expected to be released in two separate Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 release dates which Google may roll out in short intervals from October to November.

There are speculations the Nexus line will be discontinued and replaced with the new Android Silver line.

According to Evleaks, there will be no Nexus 6 in 2014 and instead, the Android Silver will be arriving in February 2015.

Ausdroid said that the Nexus 6 will launch this year, sporting a 5.5-inch display.

Meanwhile, Motorola product management vice president Punit Soni recently affirmed on a Google+ thread that the Moto X will receive the Android L update. HTC also confirmed that it will also support the Android L.
