Sony Xperia has recently announced the availability of the latest Android 5.1.1 lollipop upgrade, but not all their flagship phones will receive the update on time.

According to International Business Times, the Android 5.1 lollipop upgrade will prioritize units from 2013 to 2014 and Sony Xperia's high end phones such as the Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z2. The firmware Android 5.1 lollipop update has already been received by Sony Xperia Ze, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and Xperia Z2. In mid-August, the original line of Sony Xperia Z series will have the opportunity to be upgraded, this is prior to the scheduled upgrade of the Sony Xperia M series.

Although several units from the Sony mobile products is set to receive the updates, consumers whose units are more than 18 months are skeptical whether the older phones will ever receive the Android 5.1 lollipop upgrade. The firmware is set to make changes to the mobile units such as an upgrade to its camera applications, additional upgrade in its volume controls, alerts and sound modes. Surprisingly, it also includes a significant upgrade to a specific social media, the LinkedIn where the phone's synchronization to its calendar app is more accurate.

With much anticipation of the Android 5.1.1 lollipop upgrade, and Sony willingly puts their flagship phones under it.

HTC, on the other hand, is hesitant and been dragging their resolutions about the upgrade, according to Android Headlines. HTC has skipped their chance to upgrade with Android 5.1.1 lollipop upgrade in anticipation of the pending release of the Android M upgrade. HTC made the decision after the latest update has been announced, but made sure the new units that are currently coming out of the boxes have the Android 5.1.1 lollipop upgrade on them.

The  Galaxy 4 10.1 Tablet has also received the latest Android 5.1 lollipop upgrade. The Galaxy 4 10.1, although may not have been very popular in the market possesses some features based on Samsung's designs and will upgrade to 1GB after updating with the Android 5.1.1 lollipop upgrade.
