An American teenaged couple survived a deadly lightning strike on Thursday by simply holding hands.
High school sweethearts Dylan Corliss and Lexie Varga were taking a stroll in Claremont, California, when lightning suddenly struck them. Varga is an incoming senior in high school, while Corliss is a junior.

Doctor Stefan Reynoso, who examined them, said that by holding hands, the teenagers were spared from more serious injuries. He explained that electric current initially went through the head of Corliss and transferred to Varga via their hands, before exiting out of her foot.
Both teenagers said they only experienced some minor fatigue. Doctor say they could have experienced major skin burns or serious heart complications.
Corliss recounted that they went out to get some food when the lightning struck them. At first, they were confused as they lay sprawled at the sidewalk. Someone came to their aid and said that a lightning had struck them. Claremont was experiencing thunderstorms at that time, according to weather forecasts.
Vagra later told reporters that she thought something very hard hit her head and mistakenly assumed that an earthquake just occurred.
The two were able to get back on their feet. Despite feeling weird, they simply went straight to a restaurant to eat. Later that day, their concerned parents insisted that they visit a doctor to have their bodies examined for any injuries that they may have sustained.
Doctor Reynoso said it is very rare for a person to be struck by lightning.
Varga's mother told the press during an interview that she texted her daughter when she heard the thunder. The younger Vargas then answered back informing her mother that they were struck by a lightning bolt.
The lucky young couples believe that they are now connected by an "electric love".
Ironically, lightning experts have been telling people to maintain a distance of at least five meters away from each other if they find themselves out in the open during a lightning storm.
