Somebody hand Zac Efron that divine bottle of baby oil because the 27-year-old hunk just confirmed his casting in the movie adaptation of 90s TV series "Baywatch." Just when fans thought they have already basked in the full glory of Efron's physique, exposed and contoured in all the right places, when he starred in "That Awkward Moment" and "Neighbors," they are in for an eye feast as he glistens around the beach in bright red trunks--slo-mo.

"So stoked brother - baby oil for 2 plz [sic]," the actor-singer tweeted on Monday in response to Dwayne Johnson's "#RatedR" tweet.

According to The Rock, he and Efron have been in the talks for quite some time already and is glad to welcome the young actor in the project, which the "San Andreas" star is also co-producing. While plot details are yet to be revealed, it was reported that the big screen version will take on a more comedic approach. Seth Gordon of "Horrible Bosses" and "Identity Theft" has been tapped to helm the film.

In the movie, Johnson is a "by-the-book and very serious" lifeguard who reluctantly becomes partners with the "rule-flouting hothead" character of Efron. Together, they will take it upon themselves to stop the destructive plot of an oil tycoon and ultimately save their beach.

Efron's casting was no surprise since his "rare combo of looks and laughs" proved to be impressive when he acted alongside comedian-filmmaker Seth Rogen, The Hollywood Reporter noted. Their tandem was so effective that Neighbors reportedly raked in $150.2 million in the U.S. alone and is slated for a sequel in 2016.

The former teen heartthrob recently finished filming two comedies, "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" and "Dirty Grandpa" opposite Anna Kendrick and veteran actor Robert de Niro, respectively.

Talks of adapting Baywatch, which made icons of David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, into a movie started in 2012 but reportedly did not push through due to a handful of changes in the production and team. It was in October 2014 that Paramount Pictures gave the green light. Filming allegedly starts early in 2016.
