Information-related consumption will become a new driving force in Chinese economy

A growing number of Chinese netizens are enjoying the convenience brought by the "high speed Internet era". Recently, Chinese State Council executive meeting put forward a plan on increasing Internet speed, reducing Internet fees and promoting Information-related consumption, in order to stimulate domestic demand.

According to the 31st statistical report released by China Internet Network Information Center, by the end of December 2012, Chinese netizens have reached 564 million and Chinese Internet penetration rate is 42.1 percent. What's more, online shoppers have reached 242 million, and the network shopping utilization rate is up to 42.9 percent.
Though China is titled "the largest network country ", the actual speed of broadband in China is far behind the advanced level abroad. Many Chinese netizens usually have problems about unclear images or unsmooth video when they use mobile phones to surf the Internet. So it is extremely urgent to increase Internet speed and improve Internet capacity in China.
Many industry specialists believe that Chinese economy is facing a dilemma as the export trade is shrinking and domestic demand isn't strong either. Under the circumstance, the "broadband China" strategy will become a new driving force for Chinese economy. And the enormous Chinese netizens are the main force to stimulate domestic demand in China.
Based on the data released by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, Chinese information-related consumption reached up to 1.7 trillion yuan in 2012, which is 29% higher comparing with the date of precious year. By 2015, the scale of information-related consumption of China is expected to be more than 3.2 trillion yuan.
The State Council executive meeting also encourages private capital to enter the basic telecommunication market and encourage the development of intelligent terminal product, in order to achieve the goal of China's "12th Five-year Plan".
Officials of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology predict that in the next three years, the amount invested on fiber optic broadband will reach more than 150 billion in China.
