Nike Allows James Harden to Drift to Adidas

MVP runner-up James Harden of the Houston Rockets will be signing a 13-year, $200 million deal with Adidas after Nike decided not to match the offer, according to the Sun Times.
Adidas spokesman Michael Ehrlich said that they pursued Harden because they are sure that he can take their brand to new heights.

The 25-year-old Harden had just won won the NBA scoring title, voted MVP by his peers and on top of his runner-up finish in the recent NBA MVP race.
Top officials of Nike held a meeting to soon after Adidas made an offer in trying to nab their former client.
They were unable to reach any consensus about giving a counter offer and at what amount it would be.
Nike had concerns about spending too much money on a single player.
While signing Harden was described by Nike as a "top priority", it added that they also have other athletes they are looking to sign.
Nike already has more popular NBA stars in its lineup, namely: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant.
According to TMZ, the fact that Harden's girlfriend Khloe Kardashins sported bright coral floral Adidas jacket gear with a huge logo of the brand on her back at Drew League game this weekend signifies that Harden will hook up with Adidas.
The 31-year-old Kardashian sat courtside as Harden scored 25 to help LAUNFD beat the Citi Team Blazers 83-72 in the Drew League playoffs game at King Drew Magnet High School in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The two have been rumored to be lovers when they were seen together in Las Vegas, just two weeks after Kardashian finalized her divorce from Lamar Odom, 35, another NBA player .
The reported deal will put Harden among the to endorsement earners in the NBA.
Harden is expected to be the main man at Adidas, ahead of other stars such as Washington Wizards star John Wall, Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose and Portland Trail Blazers'Damian Lillard.
