Snapdragon 820 features dual-imaging signal processing unit which has been integrated to provide top-notched camera imaging quality such as more natural skin tones using 14-bit dual ISPs support for three simultaneous cameras - one at the front and two at the rear - and up to 25 MP at 30 frames per second without shutter lag. It also sports Qualcomm Spectra ISP's autofocus technology and multi-sensor algorithms for computational photography and improvements on power usage.
Adreno 530 graphics processing unit focuses on delivering up to 40 percent lower power consumption and 40 percent faster performance than the Adreno 430, compatibility with OpenGL ES 3.1, 64-bit processors, lowered power consumption while giving higher performance, reduction to DRAM bandwidth, support for 4K video at 60 fps over HDMI 2.0 and Qualcomm EcoPix and TruPallete for longer battery performance with superior pixel quality. When compared to Snapdragon 810, Snapdragon 820 offers up to 35 percent performance improvement and only uses four cores instead of eight which likely to minimize emission of heat but with 14nm FinFet Hydra core architecture design and 64-bit processing.
Samsung Galaxy S7 is one of the many flagship smartphones expected to feature the Snapdragon 820 and Adreno 530 because of its timely release on the first half of 2016, the same time Qualcomm will commercially release both processors. Galaxy S7 will likely be announced at the Mobile World Congress tech event next year.
According to SamMobile, Galaxy S7 is now being tested for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and a new Exynos processor. It is also expected that the new flagship smartphone undergoes Android M software development, compatible with Snapdragon 820 and Adreno 530. Leaked document via Weibo unveiled the codename "Jungfrau" on the Android M upgrade plan with MSM8996 processor. Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5 are probably sporting Snapdragon 810 processor when announced at the IFA 2015.
