Critics Slam American Apparel 'Back-To-School' Ad as 'Soft Porn'

American Apparel has incited outrage once again, this time for an advertisement portraying provocative images of schoolgirls.

The campaign, which many referred to as 'sexist' and as 'underage porn,' featured a nearly up-skirt angled photo which the company later removed from its Instagram account due to public backlash.

The advertisements are aimed at promoting American Apparel's back-to-school line of clothing.

One photo shows a model wearing a short school skirt while bending over and exposing her underwear, upper thighs, and part of her buttocks.

Women from all over the U.K. have expressed their disgust about the imagery and Retweeted the images numerous times.

Many citizens accused the company advert of 'fueling Lolita fantasies,' referring to a heated novel by Vladimir Nabokov which details an older man's sexual fantasies about a 12-year-old girl.

During interviews carried out by KTLA 5, people expressed their concerns that the controversial images would only serve to propagate a rape culture.

Some found it shameless and offensive, and called it a type of 'soft porn' which could only be seen at strip clubs.

Others denounced the brand all-in-all and vowed never to buy from the company again, while another rapped American Apparel for resorting to 'child pornography' in order to sell their products.

This isn't the first time American Apparel has come under fire for its questionable advertising methods. Just earlier this year, the company was widely criticized for a magazine image which featured a topless ex-Muslim model with the phrase 'Made in Bangladesh' across her chest.

Another American Apparel image which stirred up public ire was that of a woman apparently naked from the waist down and wearing only a jumper. The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) came down hard on the company citing that the model, who appeared to be underage, came across as 'vulnerable' in the campaign.
