Atlanta Hawks small forward Mike Scott can possibly face up to 25 years of prison sentence after being caught and arrested for carrying illegal drugs and banned substances last month.

The 27-year-old, who was selected 43rd overall by the Hawks in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft, was caught with his younger brother on July 30 carrying 35.2 grams of marijuana and 10.9 grams of Schedule I drug MDMA also known as Molly, as reported by Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The brothers were stopped by police while driving down Interstate 85 in Homer when the elements were found inside their car. It was reported that according to Georgia laws possession of MDMA has a maximum sentence of 15 years while marijuana has a maximum sentence of 10 years.

If proven guilty of two counts of felony drug possession, the 2012 First-team All-ACC and former Virginia standout could be imprisoned for 25 years. He posted a bail worth $8,100 before he was released by the police.

Scott admittedly confessed that all the drugs found in the car was his. In a video leaked by TMZ Sports, Scott was shown asking a police officer if his brother will also face charges after his confession, with an officer responding that his younger brother may no longer be charged because of what he did.

Bleacher Report indicated that Scott's younger brother, Antonn, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe around 9 a.m. that day when they were stopped by police for speeding and for tailing another vehicle too closely at speeds of up to 98 mph. They did not immediately pull over and drove for two miles before finally stopping.

Scott said that he and his brother did not realize they were being called to pull over that is why they did not stop right away.

The athletic wingman averaged 7.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 16.5 minutes per game off the bench last season for the Eastern Conference finalists. He is entering the second year of his three-year, $10 million contract signed in August last year.

The Hawks are reportedly aware of what had transpired but denied to make any comments to not overstep the legal procedures. The team and the league could give him a disciplinary measure even if the legal process is yet to be concluded.
