Viral Video: See How Video Games Evolved through the Years [Watch YouTube]

Acapella videos are becoming widespread these days but one guy stands out as he performed well-known songs and tunes from several famous games in recent history.

Triforcefilms walks the viewers down memory lane through a short musical history of video games.

The YouTube clip called "Evolution of Video Games" below takes viewers from the classic games to the newest titles. The man sings solo with only his voice for 16 minutes, covering Pacman to Tetris and Uncharted to Halo.

The YouTube clip covers these famous video games:

Super Mario Bros., Pacman, Dragon Warrior, The Legend of Zelda, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tetris, Doom, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokemon, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil, Metal Gear, The Elders Scroll IV Oblivion, Uncharted Drake's Fortune and Halo.

The video shows Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. which was released in Japan in 1985 and was introduced in Australia two years after.

For kids who don't know this game, a player needs to control Mario to play it. The game is also available in two-player mode where players can control either Mario or his taller brother, Luigi.

The game is set in the Mushroom Kingdom where Mario and Luigi are on an adventure to rescue the princess.

More Nintendo games are Dragon Warrior and The Legend of Zelda, which were first released back in 1986. Nintendo also published Tetris in 1989 and Super Metroid in 1994.

Another publisher, Sega, introduced Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991 and released Doom in 1993.

When 3D debuted, video games followed suit through 3D Realms which released Duke Nukem 3D in 1996.

Capcom also debuted Resident Evil in the same year while Nintendo released Pokemon.

Video games evolved further in the 2000s as Microsoft launched Halo Combat Evolved for PC in 2001. Namco released Katamari Damacy for PlayStation in 2004 while 2K Games debuted The Elder Scrolls in 2006.
