Second seed Simona Halep got off to a bad start during her quarterfinals match at the Rogers Cup but rallied to defeat defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska 0-6, 6-3, 6-1 to enter the semifinals of Canada's most prestigious tournament.
Sixth seed Radwanska controlled the match earlier on by winning the first seven games, but the resilient Halep bounced back at 3-3 in the second and won the next 9 out of 10 games to bag the victory.

"At the beginning I couldn't move my legs. I just felt very tired. And she was playing amazing - I couldn't do anything," said Halep who will face fifteenth seed Sara Errani in the semis. "But I just kept focusing on what I had to do on the court - I knew I had to change my tactics, so I just kept the ball inside the court more and made more rallies out there. The fans kept cheering for me even when I was down 5-0, and it helped me keep fighting."
The win brings Halep to her 300th career match win and when asked about her most memorable triumph so far?
"Serena, last year in Singapore, is the best win for me," the Romanian answered. "But every match is important at this level because you play with top players and you always have a big challenge when you go on court. So every day, and every victory, is important. And I want more. That's why I'm preparing every day. I'm working hard. Of course I won't give up now - I'm just looking forward to the next tournaments."
In the top draw, first seed Serena Williams easily toppled Roberta Vinci 6-4, 6-3. Her next opponent is the Swiss youngster Belinda Bencic who eliminated fifth seed Ana Ivanovic 6-4 6-2. This is Bencic's second win over a seeded player this week after beating Caroline Wozniacki in the second round.
The Williams and Bencic semifinal match marks only the second encounter between the two with the American dominating their last meeting held on clay. Despite Bencic's splendid run so far, the world no. 1 is still the favorite to win her fourth Rogers Cup title.
