It turns out that the "love story" teased in "Toy Story 4" will not be between humans but toys!

Way back in November 2014, when "Toy Story 4" was confirmed as a real project and not just fans' fervent speculation, it was teased that there would be a love story. This was reported by the LA Times:

"Lasseter told The Times that 'Toy Story 4' will be a love story and will pick up where "Toy Story 3" left off, when Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of the series' toy chest of characters were handed down to a little girl named Bonnie."

Most teary-eyed kids and even adults who were kids when "Toy Story" first came out in 1995 thought that was the end of the story. It would have been a fitting end that Andy himself would find the toys a new home. The Toy Story trilogy that spanned 15 years would have proper closure.

However, the demand for more "Toy Story" never waned. Pixar released "Toy Story" short films and a Halloween TV special which were warmly received. Still, John Lasseter, director of the first 2 "Toy Story" movies, reiterates that it's not about the money.

"A lot of people in the industry view us doing sequels as being for the business of it, but for us it's pure passion," Lasseter states. "We only make sequels when we have a story that's as good as or better than the original."

Thus, expectations run high for the next chapter, which was confirmed to be a love story between Woody and Bo Peep, a toy that was "lost" in between "Toy Story 2" and "Toy Story 3."

In an interview with CNBC, Lasseter confirms that ""It's a love story with Woody and-and this is news-Bo Peep."

Cinema Blend gives us a background on the character which was often at the periphery of the plotline.

"Voiced by Annie Potts, Bo Peep was not technically a toy at all, as she was actually part of a lamp in Andy's sister Molly's room. But she was introduced to us among the toys Andy plays with, and always seemed to have particular affection for Woody (Tom Hanks)."

Toy or not, Bo Peep will be at the center of "Toy Story 4" and one of the exciting details is how she would be brought back. Will Woody and Buzz mount a search for her?
