One of the biggest busts among No. 1 draft picks in the NBA, the 7'0" Oden will undergo a one-week tryout.

Oden hopes to use his stint in China as a springboard for a return to the NBA.

After all, he is just 27 years old.

However, history is not on his side, according to Wikipedia

Oden was plagued by injuries soon after he was selected No.1 overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the June 2007 Draft, ahead of future NBA superstar Kevin Durant.

Just three months later, he had microfracture surgery on his right knee and had to miss the entire 2007-08 season.

In his NBA debut against the Los Angeles Lakers in 2008-09, he wasted no time injuring his foot after playing thirteen scoreless minutes.

Oden returned two weeks later on November 12, 2008 and scored his first NBA points in the first quarter against the Miami Heat.

But on February 13, 2009, Oden injured his left knee after banging it against the Golden State Warriors' Corey Maggette. He suffered a chipped knee cap and missed three weeks.

On December 5, 2009, he re-injured his left knee in the first quarter of a game and underwent surgery for a fractured left patella. He missed the rest of the season.

Without having played a single game since the surgery, Oden underwent arthroscopic surgery--this time on his right knee.

He has since appeared in only 105 NBA games.

China has been a destination for NBA players hoping to prolong their careers.

Two-time NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury is a big hit in China, while other stars such as Allen Iverson also saw action there.
