Israel launched air strikes across the Gaza Strip on Friday in response to Palestinian rockets fired after Egyptian-mediated talks failed to extend a 72-hour truce in the month-long war.
The United Nations (UN) said at least 447 Palestinian children, aged 10 days to 17 years, were killed in the ongoing fighting in the Gaza Strip since July 8, and the death toll could increase as the fighting continues.
In a report on Friday, the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) said the death toll of children in the ongoing conflict in Gaza has exceeded the number of children that died in the previous two conflicts involving Israel and Palestine.

In 2008-2009 Gaza conflict, 350 children were killed while another 35 children perished in the 2012 conflict, said UNICEF spokesman Christopher Tidey during a press conference.
Tidey added that 30 percent of the total deaths of Palestinian civilians were children. At least 68 percent of these children were aged 12 and below.
The heartbreaking figure was released by UNICEF on Friday, just hours after the 72-hour truce ended with Palestinian militants firing dozens of rockets into Israel.
On Friday, a 10-year-old boy died in the new round of airstrikes, said Ashraf Al-Qedra, Gazan health ministry spokesman. Five other adults were also killed.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry urged on Friday in a statement that both the Palestinians and the Israelis should "return to commitment to ceasefire, and resume negotiations."
As of this posting, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the cumulative death toll of Palestinians reached 1,922, at least 1,407 are believed to be civilians.
At least 9,500 people have also been injured in the ongoing conflict in Gaza, said the OCHA.
The ongoing conflict has also displaced some 200,000 people, who are now sheltered in various government schools and shelters.
