"The Vampire Diaries" is expected to provide an entirely new plot for its seventh season, especially now that lead female character, Nina Dobrev, is gone. Because of all the changes in the series, show co-creator Julie Plec recalls her most memorable moments in the show.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "The Vampire Diaries" producer said that they are preparing for a big twist. The last season ended with Elena being caught in a spell linking her life to Bonnie, played by Kat Graham. Though Elena did not die, she would remain asleep for the rest of her life.

Plec shared that in one way or another, they knew they had to cut Dobrev's character off the show. This was a difficult challenge for them because they had to find a way to make a permanent adieu to Elena while still maintaining the possibility that she could come back in the future.

During the finale, CW asked Plec and the crew to live-tweet and watch together with the fans. She said it was an emotional ride for her because she had to endure the "wrath of the fans as they watched."

"It was like I was watching it with them. It was very interesting to see their reaction to stuff," Plec said.

Plec added that she was surprised with the majority of the comments that suggested to write off Bonnie's character just so Elena could wake up.

Dobrev never had any hard feelings for Plec. She said that she has always respected Plec.

"What she does is for the best of the show and the characters... it's a beautiful episode, a tribute and a sad goodbye," Dobrev told The Hollywood Reporter.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 will premiere on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. on CW, according to Yahoo!
