July 17th is the birthday of Yang Jiang, and she is 102 years old. A large amount of readers say "Happy Birthday" to her via the internet. The People's Literature Publishing Press is going to publish the revision of , which contains almost all the articles and pictures of Yang Jiang.
was first published by the same press in 2005, eight chapter and 2.5 million words. The president of the Press Guang Shiguang said the book will come out at the end of this year with the new articles which are not included in the last version, such as , , and , etc. The details are yet decided, some never-public photos may be considered. "We discussed about the new book about the context, and she is doing well."   

In the past few years, Yang Jiang has been writing and working on associated issues all the time, contributing the publish of the and . The senior editor Li Xi told us that Yang Jiang started organizing Qiang Zhongshu's manuscripts which are up to 70,000 pages at her senior age. What she has done is of the great help of bringing the to the reader in 2003. The has been reprinted dozens times.

Donation

Yang Jiang lives in a simple way. She authorizes the Tsinghua University to take care of Qiangzhong Shu' and her remunerations. In 2001 the "Love Reading" foundation was established to sponsor the outstanding students who can't offer their tuition. In the past twelve years, the foundation has been accumulated up to ten million. No doubt that the number is correct, confirmed by the Press. The remunerations from the top selling books, , , the translated work and others are the major parts of the foundation.

Life

The editor Li visited Yang Jiang on this year's Spring Festival. "She practices the Ba Duan Jin Qigong every day, standing in front of the mirror. Calligraphy is another routine work for her. She will copy a short paragraph of Qiang Zhongshu's poems. The writing is beautiful and no one would expect that from the senior. Recently the hearing aid is fixed so that she can use it when she is watching the TV news. She is concerned about the society and politics, thinking of the present problems in this country.

Inspiration

In 1957, Yang Jiang was asked to translate the and she was free to use any of the translated versions. She brought five of the translated books both in English and in French. By the carefully comparison, she figured that the original Spanish version was the only one with the essentials of the book. She decided to learn Spanish to complete the mission. In 1961, four years later she began the translation work. 1978 the Chinese translation of was published by the People's Literature Publishing Press. The previous leader, Deng Xiaoping gave the book to the king of Spain, expressing the respect and friendship from China.
