Microsoft's latest offering Windows 10 is already under the cloud of controversy as users across the globe are complaining about the compulsory updates consuming their data plans.
According to Tech Crunch, Microsoft has just introduced yet another huge file update to its extremely popular Windows 10 software. Since the official launch of Windows 10 in July this year, the company has been introducing regular updates. This is by far the third one that has been sent out to users acros the globe; however, users are far from happy. In addition to its bevy features, Windows 10 comes with a uniquely programed update option which the company claims is for the betterment of the end user. Whether or not the user wants it, Windows 10 will compulsorily update the system. From the security point of view, these updates are important as they help fix bugs and minimize the risk for the system when it is exposed to the network.
The report goes on to explain that the new update comes with minimal documentation and explanation. What's more is that the new update is a cumulative option, which means that even those who have missed the previous updates will be able to compensate their systems when they get this, as confirmed by SMH. The sole reason for the discontent amongst customers has been identified as the excessive data consumption that the updates are causing on the systems. Additionally, since the updates are being forced on the user, they end up blowing their data caps before they can realize it.
The problem has come to light when users have started to get their internet bills at the end of month. Internet users in remote locations are complaining about the data pack abuse, urging Microsoft to take action and rectify the problem. In areas where internet accessibility is scarce or expensive, the problem is even more severe.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has so far continued its stand, saying all the updates are coming in the standard size.
