"The Crow" was one of the iconic films of the 1990s, but it was notorious for being the venue of Brandon Lee's death. A reboot is in the offing, but casting has been a problem.

The death of Brandon Lee has perpetuated the alleged "curse" upon Bruce Lee's kin since the circumstances were eerily similar. Still, "The Crow" became a hit because of its unique visual style, edgy imagery, and soundtrack.

"The Crow" creator James O'Barr, who wrote the graphic novel upon which the movie was based, has vowed that the reboot is still very much alive. He talked with Comicbook.com.

"It's still very much a live property. The company, Pressman Films, that owns The Crow film and TV rights, licensed it to a studio named Relativity. And Relativity made like a hundred bad movies and lost money so now they're in financial trouble. So the producers are just going to take it to another studio if Relativity can't get backing again. It's going to happen."

O'Barr also emphasized that the production has options: "I talked to Pressman Films a couple of weeks ago and they said within two or three weeks, we should have it placed at a new studio. Because the day Relativity announced that they were having financial problems, there were like a dozen other studios that called about getting 'The Crow' property. it definitely will happen."

If the financial woes were overblown, the casting dilemma is real. Almost half a dozen actors have been attached to the role of Eric Draven, as run down by Screen Rant: Mark Wahlberg, Bradley Cooper, Alexander Skaarsgard, Tom Hiddleston, Luke Evans and the latest was Jack Huston.

Now, they have their sights set on an actor who may be able to start out fresh for them. Niholas Hoult, who plays Beast in the X-Men franchise, is reportedly making his last appearance. Cinema Blend suggested him but he might need to finish his mutant duties with "X-Men: Apocalypse" slated for a May 2016 release. Still, Hoult has s background in dealing with comic book characters and that may be a plus for him.

Will "The Crow" overcome all these problems and be "resurrected" on the big screen?
