Hugh Jackman has declared that his appearance in "Wolverine 3" would be the last time he will don the cowl and sheathe the claws. An epic final battle is in order.

Every iconic hero must have his most hated villain, and for Wolverine, it's definitely Sabretooth. They have the similarity of powers, deep-rooted animosity, and history with each other, not to mention a confrontation between them would be a cinematic treat.

So it was when Hugh Jackman tweeted about his movie and the fan reaction was overwhelming, even for the Australian who has played the role for 15 years. He talked to Sydney Confidential and when he was asked about the reactions to his tweet:

"There were a lot of calls for Victor Creed to come back, there was, I must admit I was quite heartened by a number of people saying please don't make it the last, but I'm really excited about this last one, and if you're a comic book fan, then the words 'berserker rage' came up a lot, so if you know Wolverine, you'll understand."

Comic Book Movie defines "Berserker Rage" refers to "the state of mind where Wolverine, generally in close combat situations, will lash out with the intensity and agression of an enraged animal and become even more resistant to psionic attacks."

"Wolverine 3" is due for a March 2017 release date so Fox can still make revisions and Screen Rant also analyzed the situation:

"Assuming Jackman and Fox do take fan requests strongly into consideration, it now becomes a matter of who would be Sabretooth and just how big of a role the villain would have in Wolverine. Tyler Mane may be the first cinematic version of Sabretooth moviegoers witnessed, yet Schreiber's performance as Creed was one of 'X-Men Origin: Wolverine's' few strengths. If Wolverine does take place in a tragic future, some practical makeup could transform Schreiber into a version of Sabretooth which draws inspiration from Mane's version."

The article also noted that the X-Men Universe is not really big on continutity, which is why "X-Men: Days of Future Past" was meant to be a "soft reboot" of the franchise. Thus, the production is not beholden to any past incarnation of Sabretooth. For fans, any Sabretooth is better than nothing.
