(Photo : Reuters) Cloaked in secrecy and conjectures, Apple’s mysterious project “Titan” is believed to be in development at a hidden top-secret facility just minutes away from the company’s California headquarters.
Rumors indicate that Apple is currently working on a new head-up display that is inspired from the working of jet pilots. The project is being called "Titan" and work on it is said to be underway at a top secret location near the company's California headquarters.
According to SMH, Apple is likely to be working on a 50 to 27 inch head-up display deploying a technology similar to the one used by jet pilots, at its California headquarters. It is rumoured that the display would be able to project vivid icons and information for drivers while on the road. Analyst Trip Chowdhry who is quoted in the report says that "Titan" could be Apple's next generation device with could consist of a curved glass screen wired with sensors and might be completely gesture controlled.

However, "Project Titan" could be a self-driving car as per The Hoop News. They speculate that the HUD would stretch up to cover the windscreen as well as the windows to display relevant information. They also state that "Titan EV" is most likely to a steering wheel for manual control to override in case of emergency. As per the whisperers, the display would combine some of the iOS features like current track, recent updates and other notifications in a way that they don't distract the driver's vision. Accident protection, speed control, warning messages in case of error are some of the features that might bring about a revolution in the automobile industry.
It is believed that Apple is working on an EV project and has even hired a pool of engineers from established automobile companies like Tesla, BMW among many others. They also banked upon the fact that Apple has even sought for permission to access a formal naval base to build up a test ground for the company's automotive inventions. Hence they state that the project EV is a reality and not a rumour.
Apple has remained tight-lipped about its ultimate mobile devices (cars), but if the Apple Head-up display is really in development it could be a huge leap for the $US 660 billion company into an industry occupied by money-minting car makers and tech firms, it could embolden the idea that Apple is looking forward to raking a stake on the world's roads.
