There were questions and raised eyebrows when the casting for "Suicide Squad" was announced, but there were raves about Margot Robbie and Jared Leto.
Margot Robbie was the breakout actress in "The Wolf of Wall Street" and her career took off after that. Now, she has a meaty role in Warner Bros' supervillain movie "Suicide Squad" and the reviews on the trailer were mostly positive.

Esquire featured Margot Robbie which they called "perfect" for the role. They also give a background on the character: "Harley Quinn is the Joker's girlfriend and a formidable villain her own right. At various times in the Batman mythos, she's more than held her own, gotten closer to killing Batman than the Joker did in one notable story arc, and amassed a body count that mass murderers would envy."
Robbie would be very familiar in using her allure to manipulate a strong, driven personality like Batman and Esquire took note of the Australian actresses' performances in "The Wolf of Wall Street" where she took on awarded thespian Leonardo diCaprio in some very challenging scenes.
Margot has nailed down even small details like the accent, as Esquire said she can "talk the talk" as "even Brooklyn native Jimmy Kimmel thinks her Brooklyn accent is authentic." Movie Pilot had a poll on whether she can render justice to the role, and results were overwhelmingly in her favor.
Jared Leto, on the other hand, has huge shoes to fill. However, Screen Rant has hedged their bets on the Academy Award winner.
"I'm willing to go out on a limb and call it now: Leto's Joker will be all things expected of a Joker, which means that in addition to being dementedly funny, he's also going to be scary," writer Kofi Outlaw stated on the site. "Possibly scarier than we've ever seen in live-action."
The past incarnations of the Joker, specifically Jack Nicholson's take in the 1989 Tim Burton-helmed "Batman" was more funny and psychotic. Ledger's Joker was darker and more twisted, but it would not be considered as gory and horrifying.
Some of the highly anticipated scenes in "Suicide Squad" would be the flashbacks. The last teaser where Jared Leto appears is assumed to be part of the origin story of Harley Quinn. In the comics, this is where she is tortured and eventually converted from Dr. Harleen Quinzell into the mistress of madness.
The final verdict on the stars will be handed when "Suicide Squad" hits theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
