Morgan Freeman's granddaughter E'Dena Hines was found stabbed to death on a New York City street early Sunday morning.

In responding to 911 call, the New York police found Hines, 33, lying in the street outside her apartment in Manhattan's Washington Height at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning. She was found with multiple stab wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital by the authorities.

At the scene in front of Hines' apartment, a 30-year-old man Lamar Davenport, described by the authorities as her boyfriend, was found standing over her body chanting exorcism incantation and was taken into police custody. He was later taken by an ambulance to the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for mental assessment.

"Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace," said Morgan Freeman to a News Max reporter. E'Dena Hines is the granddaughter of Freeman's first wife, studied acting and was involved with coaching urban youth.

Hines had recently returned to New York to film a movie which was earlier shot in Brooklyn. "My dream has come true and it's just beginning," she inscribed on her blog in July. Hines was informative to the society. An indication that she was going through some hardship, Hines had earlier claimed that life cannot be the way people expect it as in most cases, it might make an individual want to dive up and move away from  whatever they do. Sometimes, it gives people strength, to appreciate when one manages to get to a happy ending.

Monday morning, the police said that Davenport, who was still in the hospital, will be charged with second-degree murder and was expected to be arraigned in court later in the day. Police are still investigating the stabbing.
