Played by Scottish actress Amy Manson, Merida will appear in the season premiere, and she will definitely show her chops in archery. Executive producer Edward Kitsis said that Merida fits the "Once Upon A Time" world as she takes on some adventures with Belle, Snow White, Ruby, and the rest of the characters.
Horowitz added that Season 5 also picks up with Emma Swan, played by Jennifer Morrison, being the Dark One a.k.a. Dark Swan and how her family is trying to prevent her from becoming one. Kitsis explained that being the Dark One can reveal who you really are. Fans of the show know the kind of person Emma is so having that dagger will have a different twist on her.
Meanwhile, Snow White (Mary Margaret Blanchard) will be greatly affected by Emma's Dark One transformation. She will think that she is a failure as Emma becomes darker in the series.
The producers teased that the show will visit Camelot, and Sir Lionel, one of the knights in King Arthur's Round Table, will be added to the cast. Lionel will be portrayed as a single dad with a 13-year-old daughter named Violet. He is set to appear in episode 5.
"Once Upon A Time" Season 5 will premiere on September 27, 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
