When the cheating website Ashley Madison was hacked, the reports about users accounts revealed that several federal employees in America, as well as members of the Obama administration, paid for a membership.
According to Fox News, it is learnt that there were several government employees, including those with sensitive jobs in the Obama administration, had paid through their noses to avail the services of the cheating website. The news hit headlines when hackers exposed the account of members last month.

Associated Press traced the accounts of the members to their emails, as well as their government logged internet addresses, to confirm their identity. While the report chose to avoid taking names, they said that at least two assistant U.S. attorneys, a government hacker, a trial attorney and even an IT administrator in the executive office of the President were amongst the many who had availed the services of the website. Through the report, it is learned that many even paid for the services through their government email accounts.
Ashley Madison is handled by Toronto-based Avid Life Media Inc. and is marketed to facilitate extra-marital affairs. A federal employee whose account had been traced, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that in the unfortunate event of blackmail, he would confess his fault to his family as well as his employer to prevent it. Many people from the Department of Defense are also said to be associated to the website in order to avail adultery services. Some of these members could be working for the Pentagon or the armed forces.
Meanwhile, Pentagon issued a statement saying that it was looking into the matter and also added that adultery was a criminal offense under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Another report on Fast Company says that even the site operator is working hard to undo the damage caused by the leak. As per a statement issued by Avid Life Media, the site operator is condemning the hack and constantly monitoring the situation. The company also said that it is dedicating its efforts towards removing any information that has been unlawfully released to the public.
