Authorities Claim Abduction of Michigan Teen Didn't Really Happen

The abduction of an 18-year-old Michigan woman which prompted a massive police search on Thursday did not happen as first reported, USA Today revealed.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office officially closed the investigation regarding the abduction claim of Hayley Turner.

Turner alleged that she was held at gunpoint and abducted by a man on Thursday while on her way home from a video store.

In a statement posted by the sheriff's office on its Facebook page, it stated that Detective Sergeant Jeff Pauli, along with an FBI agent, did an interview with Turner and based on the findings, it was revealed that the incident "did not take place as originally reported."

The original report stated that on Thursday night, Turner was on her way to a video store while talking to a friend on the phone when she allegedly saw a man lying on the road.

After a while, Turner told her friend that the man had a gun, and then the call got disconnected, according to Sheriff Dale Malone.

The friend called Turners father regarding what happened, but when he arrived on the scene, he only found her car.

The report brought about an air and ground search involving the local police and the FBI.

However, a witness reported seeing a woman matching Turner's description jumping from a vehicle just before the car sped away.

Turner was later found in Ecorse after the police received a call regarding a possible match.

Turner's condition was not disclosed, but according to Ecorse police Corporal Chris Trevino, the woman had been abducted and even "hooded" by the suspect at one point.

In an interview with the Free Press on Saturday, Detective Sgt. Pauli said they are still on the look-out for a suspect, but Turner was already home and resting.
