“Haven” season 6 has just been cancelled by the Syfy network following its low ratings. The supernatural drama starring Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, and Nicholas Campbell reportedly went on a downward slope after its first season premiere.

According to Variety, "Haven" gave a solid performance during its earlier season; however, the show failed to live up to the buzz in the coming episodes. Its ratings continued to slip through the years as more and more viewers got bored of the storyline.

Although filming the series did not cost much to produce, Syfy eventually decided to pull the plug on the supernatural drama. It was said that the network preferred to put its money in another series, which would yield more profit.

In spite of the cancellation, showrunner Gabrielle Stanton remains optimistic that another network or a streaming service will pick up "Haven" season 6. Speaking to The Wrap, Stanton revealed that the producers are in talks with other network executives about the show's fate.

"I'm sure that [the show's production companies] eOne and Piller/Segan/Shepard are out there looking at that option, which is out there now," he said.

"It's so cool, that that option now exists where it never used to. I can't speak to it personally because I'm not involved in those discussions."

Stanton also revealed that he, together with the cast members, will be more than willing to do more episodes if the series will be picked up. He pointed out that they have yet to touch on other plotlines, which would definitely intrigue the viewers.

"Sam and Jim created this whole universe that I think you could do it for years and years and years. It's just such a great canvas that you can lay any characters you want over it," he shared.

According to Pulse, the second half of "Haven" season 5 is set to premiere on Oct. 8. Although the producers are still not giving up on finding a new home for the series, they promised the viewers that the finale episode will be a "satisfying" one. They added that they are also open to the possibility of doing a TV movie for the sake of the fans.
