The comedian has been very vocal about her strained relationship with her dad since childhood. Her mother died of breast cancer when she was 10 and her father has since distanced himself from the siblings, People reported.

In a 2012 interview for a TV show with Piers Morgan, O'Donnell described her father as having his "own issues and demons."

While she still recalls the dysfunctional relationship they had, the 53-year-old actress said, "You get to be 50 years old you can't still be angry at what your father did in 1970. You have to work it out for yourself and find a place for it in your life and not rehash it forever," she said in the interview as reported by People.

Last week, the former "The View" host was also all over social media and the news after her 17-year-old daughter went missing. Chelsea O'Donnell who is mentally ill had been out of sight for a few days when the comedian finally sought police help and made an announcement on social media.

Chelsea was later found in a New Jersey home with a 25-year-old man named Steven M. Sheerer she met though a dating site, the man was allegedly a drug addict, US Weekly reported.

The mother and daughter were reunited and thankfully Chelsea was unharmed. A few days after, Sheerer was charged for the disappearance of the teenager.

In a report by Fox News, Sheerer will be charged with child endangerment and distribution of obscenity to a minor. According to the report, the man was located after O'Donnell allowed the police access to Chelsea's cellphone which revealed threads of "inappropriate communication" between the two.
