Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Anthony Bennett is reportedly on the trading block, but the 2013 first overall draft pick have only drawn little interest from other teams in the league, as per Sporting News.

The Wolves are said to be "having trouble finding a team" that wants Bennett until now, as the team had reportedly been dangling him since before the 2015 NBA Draft last June.

The 22-year-old Canadian, who is a teammate of 2014 first overall selection Andrew Wiggins at Minnesota and the Canadian national team, landed at Minnesota via a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers before the season started last year that included All-Star power forward Kevin Love.

Bennett and Wiggins were both drafted by the Cavs as the no. 1 pick in consecutive years. They have obviously gone on two distinct and separate paths as Wiggins went on to win the NBA Rookie of the Year award while Bennett was relegated to the Cavaliers bench on his first year, averaging 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in just 12.8 minutes per game.

The former UNLV standout's numbers did not meaningfully improve when he was shipped to the Wolves in his second year as he averaged 5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 15.7 minutes a night, but managed to start three times with the team.

Kurt Helin of NBC Sports' Pro Basketball Talk said that the main reason why other teams are turned off by Bennett is his $5.8 million salary for the coming season, which includes a $7.3 million team option the season after "that must be exercised" before October is done.

The issue is Bennett's salary and production does not quite make sense for any team to shoulder. If the undersized power forward was a much lower pick in the draft that would not command such a high compensation, then teams might see him as a potential backup big man or role player in the future

Fansided indicated that as for the part of the Wolves, the team wanted to trade Bennett only because he does not fit into their system and not because he has less talent or work ethic. Bennett has both but only needs more playing time and chances to prove himself on the court, something that his contemporary Wiggins have enjoyed since he arrived in Minnesota.
