Golden Melody Award-winning musician A-Mei landed on her bottom and tried to "steal" the show from fellow Taiwanese singer Jody Chiang on August 23. While performing at the Taipei leg of the Queen of Taiwanese Music's farewell concert, the singer-songwriter tripped on her eight-inch high heels and shocked thousands of Chiang's fans in the audience.

"I purposely fell. Since this is a farewell concert, I have to steal the show!" A-Mei quipped as she lightheartedly laughed at her blunder.

The 43-year-old aboriginal pop singer was performing the upbeat song "Summer Wave" with the 53-year-old diva and calling out on the audience to move with them when she slipped and fell on the stage. Chiang quickly extended her hand to A-Mei, who was covering her face for laughing "uncontrollably." The concertgoers were shocked but A-Mei immediately addressed their concern by standing up and showing she was unhurt.

"I have sung [in] more than 500 shows and I have not fallen once. Actually, I arranged it," Asia Pop News quoted Chiang's guest.

Knowing that her fall could not escape the attention of media and netizens, A-Mei made an appeal in jest that only "nice photos" of her circulate social media. "I know that my falling scene would be repeatedly shown on the Internet, but would you please show those of my beautiful images?"

According to Asia One, A-Mei's appearance at Chiang's concert is a testament of their friendship. Both singers have made special performances at each other's concerts throughout the years and having A-Mei at her farewell concert is thought to be "symbolic." Aside from the former "The Voice of China" judge, Chiang's concerts have been graced by Hong Kong singer-songwriter Jacky Cheung and Chinese singer Wang Lee-hom.

In Jan., Chiang announced that she would mark the end of her singing career with a series of 16 farewell concerts in Taiwan. Her final performance will be on Sept. 13 in the city of Kaohsiung.
