Fans of the global boy band phenomenon, One Direction, expressed their collective disappointment over rumors of a split emerging within the members of the band. Thankfully, one of its members, Niall Horan, asserted die-hard supporters that the group is just taking a hiatus, rather than breaking apart.

On Monday, Aug. 24, several existing members of One Direction used their Twitter accounts to ensure fans that they are not breaking up. Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne, announced via social media that the group is merely "taking a well-earned break at some point" next year. While it could be a lengthy break from touring and recording new songs, the members made sure that a split is not in the band's horizon.
"Ok so lots of rumours [sic] going round. We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year," wrote Niall Horan in his Twitter account.
The member posted a follow up, stating that the band has prepared a new set of songs for a possible new record, and that the band still has the enthusiasm to perform for their fans.
"Don't worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve ! Can't wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform," added the member in the same social media account.
Meanwhile, Liam Payne, weighed in and wrote his piece after his band mates explained the impending break, expressing his relief in his social media account.
"So glad everything has been cleared up today and ur [sic] support with it is amazing not that we could ever expect anything less your [sic] amazing," wrote Payne via Twitter, adding that the band is coming up with "something great" with their next batch of releases.
The decision to take a break came after a stressful year for the group, who lost one member, Zayn Malik in March earlier this year. 22-year-old Malik cut his ties from the band, as well as his relationship with Little Mix singer, Perrie Edwards. In July, it was confirmed that 23-year-old current member, Louis Tomlinson, is to expect his first child with stylist, Briana Jungwirth.
