On, Jan. 11, 2015, CW's President Mark Pedowitz announced that "The Vampire Diaries" will be returning for season 7. The hit TV series has grown its own community of fans and lovers throughout the past 6 years of airing. The show indeed has had ups and down, especially with season 4 and 6 but apparently season 6 has got the show's ratings up on top again.

Season 7 is going to be different than the rest because this time, the main female protagonist of the show, Elena Gilbert, is not a part of the series. Her role was actually the central character, around whom, the whole story resides. Her sudden absence will bring massive impact on the play story.

The shows' most adored couple Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) is the key reason behind the craze of the viewers of this show. It's hard to determine what to expect from the storyline of the TV series now, but show's director Julie Plec says that the show is now going to put emphasis on the lives of The Salvatore Brothers and some other characters.

Spoilers have shown that the show now is going to focus on the brotherly love between Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Now, that their mother Lilly Salvatore (Annie Wersching) is back, there is definitely going to be some on screen family bonding fans could expect. Also, Alaric would be turning towards alcohol as before and pursuing unconventional methods to ease his sufferings such as contacting the dead. One could expect this behavior from a man who just lost his wife and unborn child.

As a whole, the story is revamping to strike the viewers with new twists. New characters are said to join the show, the leaked names are Tim Kang, Justice Leak, Jaiden Kaine, and Todd Lasance. Leak is rumored to play Malcolm, a heretic that is not afraid of death.
