"Vampire Diaries" is a favorite TV serial of all genres. Fans have developed an image of the characters and their associated. Perhaps, it was only the influence of such a strengthened association that the news of Nina Dobrev exit from The Vampire Diaries crushed the audience.

The star has played the protagonist Elena Gilbert along with many of her Doppel gangers for the past six years. Now, that she has left, the fate of the show cannot be anticipated.

Apart from "Twilight" fans, many other sci-fi lovers were thrilled when the show was first announced. The series was first aired 6 years ago on CW. It is based on the vampire novel series by L.J Smith with the same name.

Elena was the heart of the show. Despite the Salvatore brother sharing the spotlight. The lives of the two circled around the young Gilbert. They both had an affair with her. Although, she is shown in relationship with Damon till the end, yet, Stefan always had a soft spot for her.

A few spoilers that have been given by the producer Julie Plec indicate a time leap. The new season will start way ahead in the future, from where the show left off in season 6. During this time, viewers will not be kept uninformed about what happened after Elena was sealed and cloaked into the tomb by Bonnie. So viewers should expect two timelines, i.e. flashbacks and the present happenings. As per recent findings, Stefan and Caroline's relationship will continue to blossom. It goes without saying that the storyline will focus on brother bonding.

After the tragic exit of Elena, fans are left to wonder what it would be like without her. The success of the next season is being questioned because of Nina Dobrev exit. The on-screen chemistry of Elena and Damon was loved by the fans. What will Damon do after their separation? Will he go off the edge? Will he be back to his murderous self? Or will he find new love? The network has announced the inclusion of some new characters but will they be enough to fill the void? Well, we can't know for sure till the show comes back.
