Abrams and actor Harrison Ford of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS took part today in 'Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes: Live Action at The Walt Disney Studios' presentation at Disney's D23 EXPO 2015 in Anaheim, Calif.

There's no denying that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is the biggest movie of the year as it is set to take over Imax theaters for one month.  The last time this was done was with "The Hobbit" trilogy when Warner Bros. struck an exclusive deal with Imax.

For four straight weeks from its release date on Dec. 18, all Imax theaters in North America as well as in other foreign countries will be devoted to the latest "Star Wars" movie. Disney and Lucasfilms went full force in ensuring that their biggest film gets the best presentation to fans and moviegoers.

Even if you miss "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" on its first week on Imax, don't fret because you still have three more weeks to find the right Imax screening for you. Director J.J. Abrams confirmed that he shot a huge action sequence using Imax cameras.

However, other movies will be hit by this exclusive deal. There's "In the Heart of the Sea" starring Chris Hemsworth and directed by Ron Howard, which will only have a week of exposure in Imax. Early Oscar-favorite "The Revenant" starring Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu will be shown on Jan. and is still unsure if Imax theaters will open its cinemas to other films or stick with "Star Wars" as long as it makes money.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is expected to beat the opening weekend worldwide box office record set by "Jurassic World" at $44.2 million from all Imax theaters. The latest "Star Wars" movie will be shown in over 375 Imax theaters in the US and 400 Imax cinemas internationally.
