Returning legend "Sugar" Shane Mosley (48-9-1, 40 KOs) knocked out ring veteran Ricardo Mayorga (31-9-1, 25 KOs) in the sixth round of the scheduled 12-round clash between the two 40-year-old boxers at the Forum in Inglewood, California, August 29, as per Boxing 247.

A left-handed liver shot by Mosley in the final second of round six brought Mayorga down on his knees, and brought a little bit of déjà vu as well, to end the highly-anticipated rematch of these old warriors.
Mayorga was complaining it was a low blow, but the referee kept on counting him out as he waved his hand and head in surrender. Replays of the punch confirmed that it was a legitimate body shot by the Sugar.
While the names are highly-respected, the match expectedly did not live up to its billing with Mosley a hundred times slower than he used to be and Mayorga obviously out of shape and flabby around his mid-section.
However, considering their ages, Mosley is 43 while Mayorga is 41, it was still a somewhat entertaining fight because of the personalities and history involved.
The knockout completely reminded fans of the fighters' first match seven years ago with the back-and-forth action, comedic taunting, and the last second knockout win for Sugar.
Boxing News 24 indicated that Mosley's victory "didn't really prove anything", referring to his capacity to still be an elite fighter in the next couple of years.
The Lynwood, California native was actually receiving some hard shots from Mayorga in the sixth, when he abruptly caught the Nicaraguan's right side open for the left hook.
SkySports noted that Mayorga weighed in 7.4 pounds over the limit in the match set at a catchweight of 158 pounds. The catchweight was immediately adjusted to 166 pounds to accommodate El Matador with Mosley coming in at 159.8 pounds.
It was Hollywood entertainment at its finest as Mosley's girlfriend poured water over Mayorga's head during the weigh-in after the latter slapped her behind when she approached the two fighters.
The great actor that he is, Mayorga did not overreact and just kept himself in character throughout the proceedings.
During the actual bout, he did another circus act in round three when he touched his crotch ala-D-Generation X from the WWE as he taunted Mosley to keep on fighting.
