Much to the dismay of the fans, details on the movie are still unavailable. What the sources from VC Post can be sure of is that there are some of the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie who will be in the 2016 movie.

Paul W.S. Anderson was the director of the 1995 movie adaptation of "Mortal Kombat". Many of the fans have been thinking that he will still be directing the rumored 2016 movie. However, Anderson still cannot give an official statement on his possible involvement in the movie.

According to Idigital Times, Kevin Tanchareon, who was formerly rumored to be joining the movie last 2013 said that he will be backing out from making the movie. Tanchareon did not explain why he backed out from the "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" movie project, but there were some who concluded that after Tanchareon found out that there will be creative differences on the movie, he decided not to join.

Even if there is still a lot of uncertainty on the 2016 release of the Mortal Kombat movie, there is a leak online on a fight scene between Sub-Zero and Scorpion. The said video looks like a game play, but some sources said that video is related to the plot of the next movie.

Oren Uziel and Dave Callaham (The Expendables writer) are still currently writing the script of the "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" movie. Both writers said that the plot will be focusing on one character who seem harmless but eventually discovers his abilities. This self-journey will lead him in the midst of a cross-dimensional battle that will be involving the monsters of the Outworld and the warriors of the Earth. Playing a martial arts tournament called as "Mortal Kombat" will be the only way to save the planet from total destruction.
