Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford is going to try fielding a backcourt of Kemba Walker and new signee Jeremy Lin.

Clifford is on a trial-and-error mode having seven new players on the roster, NBC noted.

He is expected to try out a lot of different combinations to find out which ones play well together and which ones don't.

Clifford said he is intrigued on the thought of having two pick-and-roll players on the floor in Walker and Lin.

He feels it's a way to put pressure on the defense at one side while being able to switch it to the other, allowing them to execute plays similar to how the Golden State Warriors do with Stephen Curry on one side, and Klay Thompson on the other.

While Clifford's comparison of the Walker-Lin backcourt to the Warriors makes sense conceptually, Thompson is a much better defender than both Walker and Lin, and Curry is of course the league's MVP.

Clifford will also be juggling playing time for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Nicolas Batum and Jeremy Lamb.

The coach is also all praises for Batum, saying that they will benefit a lot for his versatility, his basketball IQ and his skill level on top of his size and quickness.

Clifford said that Batum can guard various positions, and can offensively play shooting guard, small forward or power forward, the Charlotte Observer reported.

Addressing questions about having half of their roster turned over, Clifford said they will have to treat everyone as if they haven't worked with them before. The coach emphasized that this will apply even to players who are coming back.

Clifford noted that the team has to make sure the foundation is set offensively, defensively and in every other aspect, requiring all their players to adapt to changes quickly.
