Then there is also the question of who is returning to the series and who is new?

As season 2 ended, Davina was adamant for finding a way to bring back Kol and had become the Regent of nine witch covens. Rebekkah was not sure which body she wanted to stick to. She was last seen driving away in her witch body, determined to find a way to bring back Kol, while her original body is kept safe in her coffin. News is that Claire Holt, the original body of Rebekkah will be returning in season 3 . It has been confirmed that Claire will be part of flashbacks during the new season. Also, it was indicated that she might come back as present day Rebekkah as well. How and when that will happen is not clear. Michael Narducci the man behind this Vampire Diaries spin off was vague about the matter.

She is not the only one returning, the two original brothers that were killed off in the previous season are returning as well. They will return in their original bodies played by Nathaniel Buzolic as Kol and Casper Zafer as Finn. So season 3 is going to a bit of a sibling reunion. Some new characters will emerge as well this season. Aurora (Rebecca Breeds), who will be sired to Rebekkah. That is where Claire's storyline comes in. She will appear in flashback scenes with Aurora. Detective Will Kinney (Jason Dohring) who is suspicious about the activities in the French quarter and Lucien who has a vendetta against the Mikaelsons. The series returns on CW on Oct. 8.
