TVD fans were left heartbroken after watching the season 6 finale, where they said goodbye to Elena. Now with the TVD family back at work and busy filming season 7, it is about time that spoilers are set afloat about the upcoming season. 

There is news of some new faces joining the team. The show is going to be set in the future. It will not be picking up where it left off in season 6. There will of course be some flashbacks filling up the time jump. These scenes will explain what happened after Elena's departure.

As far as the old characters are concerned, it is pretty much a given that fans will get to see Stefan and Caroline together. The producer Julie Plec has indicated that their relationship will continue to blossom in the upcoming season. So the fans can relax as their hearts won't be broken this time around. Bonnie and Damon  will bond further as they try to drown their sorrows through a drinking binge along with Alaric and that too in Europe. Alaric lost his fiancé and the twin in the finale. Paul Wesley indicated that the Salvatore brothers will be running from danger and threat which is yet unknown. Enzo will be seen with someone that is already on the show!

Julie Plec and Caroline Dries the show creators gave a bit of teasers about the upcoming season. There are six new characters three girls and three boys. The girls, Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmore), Nora(Scarlett Byrne) and Mary Louise (Teressa Liane) will be playing villains on the show. 

These women and men will be led by Lily the Salvatore mom. On the male side, Jaiden Kaine will play Beau. He has been termed as "Lily's henchman-y guy." He is loyal, mysterious, scary and weird according to Dries. The second new boy is Malcom that will be played by Justice Leak and will be Lily's pet. The third one is Tim King (from The mentalist) who will be playing the mysterious Oscar.

The new ensemble seems quite appealing and exciting as they are vampire cum witches. Whether they deliver or not, find out when the show returns in Oct. 8 on the CW Network.
