Fans last saw Matt Damon in action as Jason Bourne eight years ago in 2007 when the third part of the Bourne series was released. After the success of the Bourne series, especially the trilogy starring Matt Damon, Jason Bourne is coming back.
The fourth installment Bourne legacy did not have Bourne but instead it had a different storyline with a similar background as Bourne. The film starred Jeremy Renner (Aaron Cross) who had been part of an experimental program for creating assassins that the authorities decide to shut down later. Cross fights against all odds to survive and becomes the most wanted targets of CIA.

As far as the trilogy (Bourne identity, Bourne supremacy and Bourne ultimatum) is concerned, it ended with Bourne faking his death and exposition of Operation Blackblair. Damon recently revealed that the 5th movie of the series is in the making. Filming will start in a week. This comes as very exciting news for the fans.
Damon recently in an interview revealed why it has taken so long to make this happen. According to him they wanted to wait for the world to change in order to pitch in another story. He claimed the NASA whistle-blowing of Edward Snowden and severity of Greek debates that convinced him and director Paul Greengrass that it was time. Explaining further, he said that the trilogy focused on the Bush government but the new movie will be post-Snowden period.
"There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy," stated Damon.
The film will start from Greece that is the birthplace of democratic government and the recent political mayhem as well. Damon will be joined by two new cast members Tommy Lee Jones and Alicia Vikander. Julia Stiles will reprise her role as Nicky Parsons. The film is set to release in July 2016.
