LG is known to skip current Android OS in view of an upcoming upgrade that they think would benefit their flagship phones better.
According to IBTimes, LG has recently skipped the Android lollipop 5.1.1 software in order to put their G series, specifically the LG G2, LG G3 and LG G4, in the hands of the latest Android software - the Marshmallow 6.0. This is not the first time LG skipped such an important update, previously they dodged of using the KitKat 4.4.4 version, something that is becoming a trend in their phone lineup.

By skipping the Android lollipop 5.1.1, they are refusing to let their consumers get the appropriate software to fix bugs and other concerns about their units, instead leading them directly to the next trend of software. The Android Marshmallow 6.0 is set to be introduced by September, allowing the LG G4 to get the update by the end of the year and possibly early next year for the LG G2 and LG G3.
Products that have already received the Android Marshmallow 6.0 include Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. According to NeuroGadget, those who hold LG G2 and LG G3 may actually need to wait a little longer before their devices can be updated and finally receive the Marshmallow 6.0.
The LG G3 is equipped with a 5.5-inch screen display at 1440x2560 pixels, a 13MP camera with a 3GB Random Access Memory in a SnapDragon 801 processor. Its network technology caters to LTE, GSM and HSPA with a corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen protector.
The LG G3 platform runs on Android OS with the KitKat 4.4.2 software upgrade. The skipping practice of LG has been noticeable in their software update pattern; however, others say they have a good reason to skip a current update with all the new features of their new flagship phones.
The latest on the Marshmallow upgrade has been about the battery issues and its capability to turn off running apps in the background and save battery usage as well as prevent overheating.
