'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Massive, Global Toy Unboxing Set Before Friday; $3B Estimated Earnings in ‘Star Wars’ Merchandise

Walt Disney Co. has set a massive marketing plan "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and this includes unboxing of the toys worldwide. Starting September 3, the Mouse House will be launching the 18-hour online marathon unboxing of the toys, in what could be called the "world's first global live toy unboxing event."

Sept. 4, Friday is the final release date of the toys for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," therefore it made sense to get fans even more excited with the unboxing the day prior to their release.
The worldwide 18-hour toy unboxing marathon will reportedly be available on "Star Wars'" YouTube channel, featuring the some of the online streaming site's most famous stars.
"Star Wars' toys have always played an important role in how our fans interact with the saga. They've inspired multiple generations to relive the experience of the movies and to create new adventure all their own. These spectacular Star Wars: The Force Awakens' products will continue that tradition," said Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, in a statement released to Variety regarding the "Star Wars" toys.
Apart from the film franchise's YouTube channel, the massive global "Star Wars" toy unboxing will also be available via ABC's mobile app, as well as Good Morning America, which will broadcast the event live from New York. The entire event is set to end at Lucasfilm's San Francisco location, according to The Inquisitr.
15 online celebrities will appear at the unboxing of the "Star Wars" toys, set to take place in 12 different countries, and the first of which set in Australia. Some of the semi-celebrities to be featured in the global event include toy-unboxers Bratayley, EvanTubeHD and ExpCaseros; gamers AlexBy11; as well as international Star Wars fans from around the world like Chris Pirillo, according to Business World Online.
Variety reported that Disney has noted that 18 of the top 100 most viewed YouTube channels are of toy unboxings, which account for 8.1 billion views during the first quarter.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will appear in theaters on Dec. 18. According to research company Morgan Stanley, consumers will be spending an estimated $3 billion just on "Star Wars" toys and merchandise.
