Tom Hopper's movie highlights a common issue. At birth Eddie was declared male in Denmark, but later on in 1930 Lili underwent gender change surgery in Berlin. The movie is based on David Ebershoff's novel that is a fictionalized account of Elbe's life story. The novel was published in 2000.

Alicia Vikander plays Gerda Wegener (Eddie's wife in the movie). The trailer shows Gerda asking her husband to pose as a woman with a dress for a sketch. Holding that dress strikes a nerve but he is shortly interrupted by a friend. Later on, the couple goes out to a party. Gerda makes her husband put on a wig and a dress to go as a girl called Lili. At the party he hits it off with a man (Ben Whishaw)  and Gerda spots them kissing.

That becomes the turning point in both of their lives as Gerda's husband realizes that he is in fact a woman. When Gerda confronts her husband he doesn't deny it. He thinks Lili is his real self. "I think Lili's thoughts,I dream her dreams. She was always there."

The movie highlights the challenges that Lili has to face being a transgender. It portrays the difficulty with which Lili has to make Gerda understand who she really is. Gerda's acceptance and letting go of her husband. Redmayne  is known for his outstanding performance as Steven Hawking in the movie "Theory of Everything." This role seems entirely different and would be interesting to see the actor play such a diverse role. The movie is set to release on Nov. 27.
