The FBI has opened a civil rights inquiry into the death of Brown upon the request of St. Louis police as riots and protests continue into the third night in the St. Louis suburb.
At least 32 arrests have been made by the St.Louis police last Sunday for looting and assault of an officer. On Monday night, around 100 policemen, donning riot gear, tried to disperse the hundreds of protesters.
The protesters accused the Ferguson police of racism saying that the police serve and protect only the white communities but not in their case. Reports said majority of the residents in Ferguson and other suburbs are African-Americans while the police is manned by a white majority.
Police officers refused to give out the name of the police who allegedly shot Brown. They said that he is on an administrative leave.Brown was supposed to start college next week.
On Monday night, more than a hundred police officers tried to disperse the hundreds of African-Americans who gathered near the looting areas using tear gas and rubber bullets. No one was injured in the one hour stand-off although one protester was reportedly taken to the hospital for a small injury from a rubber bullet.
The protesters were questioning the police on the role of racism in the death of Michael Brown and the rising tensions between the residents and the police.
The unrest continues to unfold with Brown's mother seeking justice and protests still raged on. Reports said Brown was unarmed and had his arms up when he was repeatedly shot by the police officer.
The police, on its part, said Brown was assaulting the police officer that prompted the latter to shoot the teenager.
The St Louis police department has asked the help of the local authorities and the FBI to investigate the case.
